GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST

In case you guys don’t remember which I’m pretty sure you don’t, I blog something about my ex-girlfriend some time ago.

At that time I was hoping my girlfriend couldn’t see my blog post but of course I was wrong. Yup she was kind of upset that I had insensitively posted what she considered taboo. Even my ex saw my posting and wrote an email questioning me. Dang! I just opened a can of worms.

Anyway most importantly I managed assured my gal that it happened many eons ago and she’s the angel of my life now (stop laughing guys, I know you all can be even more mushy!). But she’s not too happy about the “adventurous part” of my past, so I told her to be patient and wait for the screening of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past because there may be something good in the worst of guys. Agree guys?

Thanks to Nuffnang, I was presented with two free movie passes last Thursday for the special screening of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past before its official release. Needless to say I excitedly took my angel to watch it at One Utama TGV.

Okay, the story directed by Mark Waters is about celebrity photographer Connor Mead (MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY) who loves freedom, fun and women…in that order. A committed bachelor with a no-strings policy, he thinks nothing of breaking up with multiple women on a conference call while prepping his next date.
Connor’s brother Paulie is more the romantic type. In fact, he’s about to be married. Unfortunately, on the eve of the big event, Connor’s mockery of romance proves a real buzz-kill for Paulie, the wedding party and a houseful of well wishers—including Connor’s childhood friend Jenny (JENNIFER GARNER), the one woman in his life who has always seemed immune to his considerable charm.
Just when it looks like Connor may single-handedly ruin the wedding, he gets a wake-up call from the ghost of his late Uncle Wayne (MICHAEL DOUGLAS), the hard-partying, legendary ladies man upon whose exploits Connor has modeled his lifestyle. Uncle Wayne has an urgent message for his protégé, which he delivers through the ghosts of Connor’s jilted girlfriends—past, present and future—who take him on a revealing and hilarious odyssey through a lifetime of failed relationships. Together, they will discover what turned Connor into such a shameless player and whether he has a second chance to find and this time, keep the love of his life.

And then… okay I don’t wanna spoil your fun, go see it for yourself especially you “adventurous” bastards :) Overall the movie is hilarious and the story flow is spontaneous. Jeniffer Garner was absolutely gorgeous! Matthew McConaughey is a bit less than expressive while Michael Douglas is at his classically best.

I don’t know about you, to have ghosts of past girlfriends haunting me is one hell of a scary experience. But on hindsight, my girlfriend is happy with the ending... well worth it ;)

Many thanks to Nuffnang and Mead Connor ;)

Are Women From Out Of Space or District 9 ?

Never mind the title if you can't comprehend now. Just read on please.

Most of us grew up watching sci-fi movies like Aliens and E.T (yeah.. if you were born in the mid 70s to 80s). I have always wondered if aliens have indeed visited earth before or may just live discreetly among us.

Remember this slimy two mouth?

Actually, I kind of have a feeling aliens may be living among us. The female human species is a prime suspect. As a kid, my mother had and still has this inate ability to detect if I was lying to her despite my best covert operations. She always knew who broke the vase and my secret trips to the river with my friends.

My girlfriend has this annoying special abilities too. She can smell my slightest sinister intentions at her fingertips. You know how girls always knew if you are cheating on them no matter how clever you cover your despicable tracks.

Next, girls communicate on a entirely different wavelength from guys. How do you explain when they can just exchange some telepathic glances, all would head to the ladies simultaneously? And when they shoot off subliminal replies like "Nothing!" even when they are upset with you? Don't you even dare think their are inferior in lacking physical strength because their magnificent hidden abilities had shaped great men and brought down world empires.

And in spite of all the above, we silly guys can't possibly live without them. Actually, we adore their beauty, intelligence and charm. They have this incredible hypnotic ability called "love". You see how unassumingly powerful they are? Clearly they don't belong to the same genetic lineage as the ignorant selfish male species. Men have spent centuries (maybe thousand of years too) to understand women but we are still clueless to this day.

Still don't believe there are aliens? Remember her? This is a lovely girl until she exposes her metallic body!

But I heard aliens are now living on Earth in a place called District 9 in South Africa. And I want to be in District 9 because I think I will finally probably understand the origins of women!

Have they come in peace?

Are they more superior than humans?

Why are they here?

Presented by Peter Jackson and produced by Sony Pictures. Read about this latest hot movie in Nuffnang.

A Concerned Friend

I just received an email from a long time school friend. She's married with two lovely kids. At first glance I thought she was catching up with old friends.

But reading on her email, she was rallying other parents with school going children (or even including those whose children have yet to reach schooling age) to appeal to the government to reconsider the recent decision to abolish the teaching of Mathematics & Science in English. I am still single let alone having any children but I think she mass email everyone in her list :)

I haven't meet my friend for many many years and she surprised me with her "activitism". I have always remembered her as a cheeky, outgoing and down to earth girl during our schooling days. I guess motherhood has brought tremendous changes, for the better I believe.

Actually, I am aware of this hotly contested issue and there are two obvious opposing sides. One side belongs to those who oppose the teaching of Mathematics & Science in English and of course the other side support it.

I am not going express my support for either side because I believe both has their merits in their arguments.

Some would say the national or vernacular language proponents are chauvinist and backwards thinking in advocating the reversion to the previous medium of instruction. Others castigate the advocates for using English medium as selfish and unpatriotric.

Sadly, every time a new education policy is announced, it is always associated with political elements. Education is the right of any individual especially children. Of course they are too young to have a say and they depend on their parents to decide what is best for them. But this issue has been manipulated by other people with agenda bent on pursuing their self serving interests.

The teaching of Science & Mathematics in English has nothing to do with politics or nationalism. The intention is noble and worthy of a try. Generally, it would help enhance our young children standard of English which is already very poor and affecting young graduate job seekers. But on hindsight, how are rural children going to cope with these fairly difficult subjects in a language they have problems understanding in the first place.

Ultimately, I believe each person has a right to choose. Parents has a right to choose what they believe it's best for their children. If the teaching of Mathematics & Science in English is optional, that would be a quantum leap for our country education.

A Bright Future Lost

Today I 'm overwhelmed by a tragic news that has shocked the nation.

I have been refraining myself from any political comments and I wish to continue stay neutral as I have always been. So I won't give any inputs.

But I must say I am very deeply disturbed by the loss of life of a bright young individual under such circumstances. A young man who were supposed to say his wedding vows to his loving fiancee and a bright future ahead of him who could have his own children, grow old gracefully with his wife and scale to greater heights in his career has abruptly come to an end in his journey.

I convey my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Teoh Beng Hock. Stay strong in this very difficult moment.

May you rest in peace.

I Can't Understand Her

Why is it so difficult to understand women?
We speak the same language but their meanings are so different.
We love to be around each other but can barely live together.
We talk to each other but they hear different things.
Women are allowed to make ANY mistakes and we MUST be forgive swiftly and gentlemanly. And she doesn't neccesarily have to say sorry. It depends on her mood.
We make a small mistake and women NEVER forgive easily. And it's compulsory that we must say sorry thousands of times. But our apologies doesn't neccesarily have any effect.
And they champion gender equality unwaveringly. Which is selectively according to their fancies and conveniences.
I don't understand...
I feel like a f**king idiot.

Tappers @ Jaya One

I guess you'd notice that I have not been actively blogging. Yeah I was too bogged down by work of late. There were endless of things to be done but there's never enough time. Even my friends have been "complaining" my prolonged absence from the scene.

Sigh... busy mar.

Anyway, I did find a nice place to sip a nice cup of coffee or tea and delicious chicken pie in the midst of city madness. It's located in at Jaya One (2nd Floor) which along Jalan Universiti in PJ. You won't be able to see it from the main road. Therefore, you'll have to get in to Jaya One premise and search for it. It's not a big place, so it's fairly easy to find your bearings.

So I bumped in to Tappers one lazy Sunday (I can't remember when la) and its simple English cottage layout captured my interest. The decor was set in the pre-independence Malaya era with strong British influence.

Their "cham ping" (iced coffee and tea mix) was amazingly refreshing. The coffee was original and full of aroma.

The waffle was absolutely delicious with honey and butter. The serving is quite big. Their friendly boss told me that they serve it with imported maple syrup too.

The chicken pie is a must try.

You won't regret it, trust me. It has been so long I've never tasted any good chicken pie like this that I was immediately in love with her. How on earth they could possibly bake such fabulous pies?

It's a comfy place to hangout with friends and for good food. They have quite a comprehensive menu to choose from and their price are very reasonable. I had all these for just under RM15.

I like this place, my kind of place to lounge around on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
